CHINESE INK RUBBING

In Chinese culture, stone inscription has long been a vital method for preserving history and heritage, capturing significant events through detailed engravings. Ink rubbings accurately replicate these inscriptions, often delivering sharper, more legible images than the weathered stones themselves or standard photographs. Consequently, rubbings provide a superior historical record, safeguarding texts from natural erosion over time.

Since 2016, Emma has been responsible for the preservation and research of stone inscriptions and relief carvings across various Tung Wah Group of Hospitals sites in Hong Kong. She also continues to provide professional, on-site Chinese rubbing services as an independent conservator.
